'Twas the week before Christmas,
And down at the bank,
Funds were running low,
I was becoming a Crank!

Disney Live! Mickey's Music Festival

Come along and sing the song, and join the jamboree . . .  M I C K E Y  M O U S E!

I remember singing that song when I was a little girl and marching around my living room like a loyal Mickey Soldierette!  Now I get to watch my little one doing the same thing (the lyrics have been modified a little "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse").  It's amazing to see how the joy of Disney has transcended through our generations and to know that they still have that same magical effect!  I can't wait to surprise my little one on Christmas morning with the gift of Disney Live!  We've attended a few Disney on Ice events and know that the producers always pull out all the stops to make sure everyone feels like they're part of the adventure.  I can't wait to see what Disney Live! Mickey's Music Festival has in store for us in the New Year!

Welcome To Flower City! #LoveWhereYouLive

Look up "Flower City" online and you'll likely end up on the Brampton.ca website!  Why Flower City though?  Time for a quick history lesson:  A long time ago, there was a man named Harry Dale, an immigrant from England whose father sold produce from his garden. Harry's passion for flowers (particularly his roses) eventually made him the town's largest employer and attracted world-wide attention to tiny town.  The varieties of flowers and the abundance of production in the city eventually dubbed Brampton "The Flower City".  Here's a quick link to a book which was written to explain the history behind the name.  I recommend the read!  Brampton: The Flower City Story by Dale O'Hara.

So what made us choose to move from the hustle and bustle of Toronto, to the more toned down suburbs of Brampton?  Well, I was 21 and decided that I was going to put money down on a house where I would establish my future family.  My wife (fiancee at the time) and I decided that we wanted our future family to live in a community that was safe, still growing, and was affordable.  After searching many new developments all around the GTA, we had finally found what was to be our new home, nestled in a new development area in the north-western part of Brampton.  We were within a 10 minute drive to nearly everywhere!  It was perfect!  In 2002, our house had been built and was ready for Brampton's newest residents, US!  We moved in and haven't looked back since.  Brampton is always in a constant state of development, building new recreational centres, hospitals, updating its public transit, building new schools, all to provide better facilities and services for it new and current residents.  I feel at home here and have felt this way ever since we moved in.

Here are some of our favourite
places to visit in our wonderful city:

What A Summer! #StreamTeam

This summer was filled with so many adventures! Here's a list of just a few of the things that made our summer memorable this year:
Our little monkeys' very first Toronto Blue Jays game, a few visits to Canada's Wonderland and Ontario Science Centre, and watching little birdlings hatch, grow, and sadly fly away.

AdventureTime!

It's Canadian, Who Knew? #StreamTeam

O.K., so do any of you remember watching "Are You Afraid of the Dark" as a kid and being completely terrified?  Resulting in nightlights being left on for days after the show had aired?  I do!
To this very day, I still remember certain episodes and if I think of them in wee hours of the night, I still get the heebies!  Luckily for me, my kiddo is still in the pre-tween stage, meaning I won't have to re-live those episodes for a little while longer (sigh of relief!).  Currently, she loves watching Johnny Test, Frannie's Feet, Caillou, Monster Math Squad, and Team Umizoomi (to name a few).  I'm amazed at just how unaware I was of how many great kids shows are Canadian.  I had no idea that some of the shows we've all grown up on, were actually created right here on our doorsteps.  I love that they're able disguise learning with fun games, songs, and interactive adventures!

Guardians Of The Galaxy ~ What a Marvel

This weekend we attended a pre-screening of Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy hosted by Subway Canada.  When a close friend of mine got the news that she would be attending this screening with my girls and I, let's just say she was a little too excited! (Here's the thing, she's been looking forward to watching this movie since she saw a tiny clip of it at last year's ComicCon!).
Not knowing what to expect, I turned to the official movie trailer, and didn't know whether or not I could take a movie with a talking racoon seriously, but man was I wrong.

From "Me Time" to "We Time" #StreamTeam

When was the last time you took a moment to yourself and just let the world slip away?  To be completely honest, aside from my 45 minute commute to and from work, I don't really have much "alone" time.  I'm either dealing with my super energized little monkey or spending time with my wife, or when I do get that "special" time to myself, I'm doing chores, running errands, or crossing things off the never-ending To-Do list!  RT if you agree!! (wait, what?  I'm losing it!)

Do You Remember When . . .? #StreamTeam

Do you remember waking up in the wee hours of the morning to watch your favourite cartoon?  I'm talking early (for a kid) like 6:30 in the morning early! I used to love watching Inspector Gadget and Beetlejuice before school.  It was a great motivating factor to actually get up!  If I didn't have those cartoons, I probably would've slept right up until the last possible minute (kind of like I do now)!  And in the afternoon, right after school it was Baloo and his wacky adventures on Talespin, Tiny Toon Adventures . . . I could go on forever if I had to!  And don't get me started on the weekend cartoons, those were just seriously bad *ss!

Whatever happened to good cartoons?  It's a good thing that not all of those memories are lost treasures!  The great people at @Netflix_Ca have put together an amazing collection of "retro" movies and cartoons to instill nostalgia, that transport us back to a time where things were so simple and at the end of the 30 minutes of adventure, all was right in the world!  Now, the fact that some of these goodies are being called "retro" makes me feel a little old, and I'm only 33 - that's not old right?  Nah, who am I kidding, I'll be 17 forever, which is why I'll never regret a moment of indulgence

You like me, you really like me!

It's official, I have surpassed the 1,000 follower mark on Twitter!  I'm both stunned and excited that you've decided to follow me on this "magical, mystery ride" (to quote John Legend).  I quote him only because I truly do offer "All Of Me" to my readers. Thank you for taking the time to chitchat in between coffee or tequila sips!  Thank you for sharing kind words, you never know when the person on the other end really needs them!  Thank you for offering me guidance, sometimes you just don't know where your blog is heading until something sparks that inner magic in you!  But most of all, thank you for offering me "All of You!"

I'd also like to take a quick moment and THANK YOU!  Because of you, I have actually learned a great deal about myself in the process.

A few things I've learned about me since I started blogging: (in no particular order except for #1 teehee!)

#1: I'm AWESOME!
Yeah, I'm not afraid to say that out loud anymore.  There's no shame in being yourself and having people like you for . . . (wait for it. . .) YOU!

#2: I'm not afraid of hearing 1000 "No's" if it means that the right "Yes" is right around the corner.
I was always afraid of asking for things, because I thought the only answer for me was "No".  The trick is, you'll never know for sure unless you ask!

#3: I still have A LOT to learn!
In this ever-changing world, there's always something new to discover (about all that life has to offer and about myself too!)  We often get so consumed with the every day activities that we forget to take time and appreciate all the small things, both in the world and ourselves!

#4: I'm still a kid at heart (and in my mind!).
Yes, I'll be the first to admit it, I still like Lucky Charms for breakfast (marshmallows first of course!), I love spending my days off in my PJ's (like  . . . all day!), I still hate cleaning (I don't think any of us grow past this one!), I still like jumping on my bed, I still can't draw but love doodling, etc, etc, I can literally go all day!

#5: I am a firm believer in the Law of Attraction
(if you don't know what that is, feel free to shoot me an email, I'd be more than glad to show you it's significant strength)

What have you learned about yourself, or your kids, or your parents, or your pet(s) lately?  Let me know :)

How @BlissdomCA 2013 Changed My Life (And I wasn't even there!!!)

I'm Finding My #Blissdom, Are You?

Let's rewind a little bit.  The year is 2012 and I decided to join Twitter. (Silly me, don't know why I waited so long!) After following a few celebs and brands, I saw the interaction that some of my favourite brands were having with regular ordinary people JUST LIKE ME!  I thought, man this is cool!  So slowly, I started following some of those people and liked what they were saying on twitter.  I started clicking on their blogs and would you believe that I actually READ through whole posts?!?  It was amazing to see that there were other people (JUST LIKE ME!) who were sharing their thoughts, dreams, ideas, and sometimes literally EVERYTHING including their kitchen sinks :)

Well, within a few months of "twittering", I saw a few of my fellow tweeps getting all excited because of two "Blogger's Conferences" that were coming up.   At first, I honestly didn't know what to think.  As far as I understood of what a "Conference" was, I pictured a bunch of bored people listening to a presentation about (fill the blank) all while enjoying a free breakfast.  As I began following the tweets I started seeing that this would be a good place to learn about "blogging".  Well, I entered contest after contest trying to win passes to either of these conferences and low and behold, I received a notification from Lynn, over at OttawaMommyClub, saying that I had been randomly selected as a winner of a free full conference pass to She's Connected.  Woohoo, I had just saved myself a lot of money for something I wasn't really too sure about.  Well as the days drew closer, the anxiety started kicking in.  (I'm a bit of an introvert - at first!)  Not knowing what to expect, I just grabbed my essentials (a notebook, some pens, my smartphone, and my daughter's tablet!) and headed to the conference with my kiddo :).

Well, 2 days of inspirational and informative sessions, sweet brand swag, and meeting the people behind the twitter handles proved that IF I had paid for this conference, it would've been worth EVERY PENNY!  It was amazing to see that this blogging world goes BEYOND just you, a computer screen, and a keyboard. How a simple message using only 140 measly characters can change someones life, and/or connect you with people around the world!  This intricate network of people sharing their experiences was intriguing as much as it was humbling. I was overwhelmed by how much information I walked away with, but in a good way!

Let's fast forward a little bit to 2013 :)  I wanted to switch things up and attend Blissdom this time.  Heck, it was being held in my neck of the woods and so many of the bloggers I had gotten to know were raving about it!  Well, all of the stars seemed like they were lining up, with the exception of the most important star. . . my employer.  My work schedule didn't work in my favour and as I result I had to miss out on attending Blissdom.  Well, sort of!  I was, what some would call, a virtual attendee.  I was there in Twirit (twitter spirit).  Yes, I was at work, but luckily it was a slow couple of days and it allowed me to follow along with a few of the microsessions, and connect with some pretty cool bloggers.  One of my fave connections was tweeting Christella Morris.  It started with a funny tweet, that lead to me reading her twitter bio (The opinions expressed on here are my own, except the ones you don't like, those are your moms!) which lead to us following eachother, and from there I knew I had found a new friend (someone JUST LIKE ME!).  We've been twit chatting since then, and I've watched her grow and go viral (she's at over 900,000 shares/views for this post) and is now the new YMC Tech blogger! YOU GO GIRL!

Now don't get me wrong, I was able to "walk away" from Blissdom 2013 with some very handy tips and information. I was even connected with some pretty cool brands like my friends over at Microsoft and Tim Hortons to name a few! But after everything was said and done, I knew I was missing out on the actual CONNECTION with my tweeps and the people behind the brands.  The people behind the final product that we see are what really matter.  I knew at that moment that I NEEDED to attend the next Blissdom no Ifs, Ands, or Buts! To be honest, I've been driving my spouse a little crazy over the last couple of weeks.  It's been a lot of "Blissdom this" and "Blissdom that", and "Oh, at Blissdom" . . . you get the idea.  It's driving me absolutely insane that financially this probably isn't the brightest move for us (seeing as my spouse has recently found herself unemployed due to illness), but I know that the benefits of attending this conference will pay for itself. One major advantage is that it's being held in my neck of the woods again, at the wonderful Delta Meadowville (where I saw nothing but rave reviews from last year's attendees!).  As of right now, all I can ask of those reading this is for some positive vibes as I start a new journey and hope to finally find MY Blissdom!

Whoa, that snail is FAST!

For those who loved the Dreamworks animated film Turbo, you'll fall in love all over again as the crew is back at it with the new Netflix-Original series "Turbo FAST".  It was released in Canada on April 4th and my daughter has completely fallen in love with it.  She was ill for about a week, so the only natural thing to do was keep her hydrated and entertained (things can get real boring real fast!).  The best part of all this is that she's not even the slightest bit upset that she's streamed ALL of the available episodes, she just loves re-watching them!

"Turbo FAST” is an outrageous, high-octane ensemble comedy series teaming the world-famous super-powered snail Turbo (Reid Scott) with his posse of adrenaline-junkie buddies to form the Fast Action Stunt Team (FAST).  Together, they amp up everything to the extreme: extreme adventure, extreme challenges and extreme excitement.  Each member of the Stunt Team – Turbo (Reid Scott), Whiplash (John Eric Bentley), Burn (Grey DeLisle-Griffin), Smoove Move (Phil Lamarr), White Shadow (Michael Patrick Bell), Skidmark (Amir Talai) and Turbo’s brother and team medic, Chet (Eric Bauza)– has their own customized shell and catch phrase (Ya dig?).

Home base may be the Los Angeles microcosm Starlight City, complete with a customized racetrack to practice their moves, but thanks to Smoove Move, this souped-up posse grooves to a global beat and travels far and wide to take on villains from all over the world.  With their tricked-out shells in tow, the team attempts outrageous stunts, races on the coolest tracks and takes on the craziest challengers, including masked Mexican lizards, surfer cockroaches and giant Sumo snails. No matter how wild things get, the Fast Action Stunt Team always has each other’s backs. The first-ever Netflix original series for kids, DreamWorks’ Turbo FAST delivers a whole new level of excitement.  Snail Up!  Anytime, anywhere, only on Netflix.

Together with Netflix, one lucky M.A.C.T. reader will win a free six month subscription to Netflix along with some sweet Turbo FAST swag (valued at $150).  Enter the giveaway via Rafflecopter below. Contest is open to all residents of Canada (excl. QC). Good-luck!  But hey, everyone's a winner right?  Click on this link for access to some pretty neat Turbo FAST downloadable activities and interactive games!

"It's Not Easy Being Mean!" - A Muppets Most Wanted Review!

"My name first, then space bump, space bump, space bump, your name!"

We were among the lucky few who attended the @SubwayCanada screening of "Muppets Most Wanted" this weekend.  Now I have to say that this wasn't your typical screening!  We were greeted at the theater entrance by some wonderful Subway staff, including Subway's #CommitToFit Ambassador Carl Savard , who were handing out gift cards along with admission :) A treat within a treat!

After picking up our popcorn (yes, I know it was 9:30 in the morning, but what's a movie without some popcorn? LOL), we
headed to our auditorium and were again greeted by some
friendly staff, including the infamous Subway Monkey!  We quickly
headed to our seats and instead of watching the usual previews, we were treated to some interactive trivia questions.  Those who correctly answered them (I was one of the lucky 10!) were selected as winners and got to pick up a "Muppets Most Wanted" Subway bag filled with some goodies!  Moments before the movie started, Carl Savard not only introduced himself to the audience, but also shared his inspiring motivational story about his #CommitToFit journey.

Now, onto the movie!  The End!  (Spoiler Alert: Yup, that's how it
Official Muppets Most Wanted Poster
begins!)  That's the only spoiler I'm going to offer, as the movie is way to good to ruin for you!  So why should you go watch this with your kiddos, your significant others, and your besties?  Because it's jam packed with awesomesauce that's why!  Cameos from Usher, Lady Gaga, and Celine Dion as non-other than the Piggy Fairy Godmother!  There are too many cameos to list on here, so go and check out the movie for yourself, I promise you'll be happily surprised by the familiar faces!

Kermit and Constantine.  Or is it Constantine and Kermit?
Duets? Yes!
Villains?  Have you not seen the preview?
A love story?  With a twist of course!
Two Kermits?  Never!
There can only be 1!

Here's the Muppets Most Wanted official trailer! Coming to a theater near you on March 21, 2014!  Tell me what you think :)

Oh Palmer's, You Butter Me Up!

Since birth, my daughter has always had really dry skin.  She was diagnosed at the tender age of 4 months old with eczema.  As new parents, we tried everything under the sun to try and offer her relief.  This included trying new products and even going as far as trying old wives' tales!  We resorted to using prescription creams, which we found didn't completely resolve her eczema but did improve it.  One thing we noticed was that even after applying her prescription to her skin, she still had to deal with the symptoms of her eczema as the medication only treated the dry skin patches but offered no real relief.

Jumping forward to about a week ago . . .
We received the perfect trio of Palmer's Cocoa Butter products. Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula Lotion Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Moisturizing Body Oil, and Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula Concentrated Cream.  I began using them immediately due to my seasonal dry skin, and with this extreme cold weather we've been having, it couldn't have arrived at a more perfect time!  I love how it  not only treats my dry skin, takes away that pesky itch and scaly look that accompanies it, but it leaves me with beautifully soft skin without that oily residue that we sometimes get after using other lotions.  One thing I immediately noticed after opening the container was how great is smelled!  It smells of sweet cocoa, so much so that I had to keep our puppy away from me because she kept trying to lick my hands!

One night, after bathing my daughter, I decided to try the Palmer's instead of her prescription because of the incredible results I was experiencing.  I was amazed to see how quickly it relieved her dry, itchy skin.  We decided, because of the great results with combining the lotion and concentrated cream, to add the body oil to her nightly bath and the results are like night and day!  It has left her skin so soft and we've noticed over the last week how it has been decreasing the size of the dry patches as well! My daughter's eczema was so bad that it even left her with scars, so if this heaven-s(c)ent product can offer her complete relief, I can only imagine what it can do for you!  For any parents out there dealing with, not only their dry wintry skin, but their children's as well, I highly recommend using Palmer's Cocoa Butter products.  You can find Palmer's products at your local Walmart, Target, and Shoppers Drug Mart.

The wonderful people at Palmer's Canada have given me the opportunity to give one of my lucky readers their own "Winter Dry Skin Relief" care package!

The package includes:

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Lotion
Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Jar
Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Moisturizing Body Oil
Travel size of Skin Therapy Oil
Concentrated Cream
Packaged with an orange pashmina scarf.  ARV. $50.00

We have a new Puppy! Now what?

Puppies!!!! Getting them home is the fun part.
Taking care of them is a whole other story!

Meet Heartly.

Heartly <3
She's the newest addition to our family. She's a 5 month old Yorkie/Maltese mix breed (we got her when she was only 3 1/2 months old). Very recently she gave us our first little scare. We noticed that she was behaving rather sluggishly for an otherwise very active puppy. She was very sleepy and overall not really hungry or thirsty. We took her temp (the very not-so-fun way!) and found that she had a fever of 39.5 C (which to my US friends is a whopping 103.1 F)! Keep in mind this happened only a few days after she received her first round of vaccines plus the rabies vaccine all during the same visit to the vet.

Obviously as worried parents to a tiny fur baby, we were so concerned. We stayed up the whole night, and watched as she slept to make sure her fever didn't get out of control. First things first: we called the vet to ask if this could be a possible reaction to the vaccinations she had received, of course they immediately answered "No, you should definitely bring her in. The initial examination will cost $97, and any blood work and/or further diagnostics will be discussed after the doctor determines what is required." (To tell you a little bit about me . . . I don't like getting taken advantage of neither on a personal nor professional level.)

At the Vet Clinic before grooming!
My next step, obviously still very concerned for our pup was to start scouring the Internet for any and all information we could find. Entering the eternal world of Google Search, we found that it could be something as simple as overheating,(the only course of action on our part was to monitor her behaviour and try to keep her cool), to something as sever as a bad infection to which she might need antibiotics and potentially surgery! Then we remembered that she had recently lost two of her puppy teeth, and BINGO . . . our fur baby is TEETHING! Just like any other baby, when puppies are teething, they want nothing more than to sleep, and what usually comes with teething? ? ? You guessed it, a FEVER! We found that keeping her hydrated (including adding a small amount of chicken broth) and giving her a very very low dose of baby aspirin did the trick.  Within the next two days her fever slowly diminished and now she's back to chewing everything in sight, I forgot to mention that teething will make them do that too :)  I remember when my daughter was teething, her go-to pain reliever was mommy's Otterbox cellphone case, with the cellphone still in it! Pacifiers did nothing for her!

After the groomers :)
This brings me to the all important question of "To Insure, or NOT To Insure"? I've been having a tough time with this one because I feel like there's no real affordable alternative, other than to pay more to insure my pet than I do to insure myself! A friendly visit to the vet can run you from around $80-300, diagnostics can run even higher. Reading horror stories online about surprise vet bills as a result of a beloved pet getting sick or injured. The costs ranged from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand dollars and all I could think of was "What are we going to do if our puppy is sick and we have to take her to the vet?" We can't afford that, and applying for the Vet payment plans have interest rates that are not at all pleasant. It's really a double edged sword that you can't afford to be on either side of! There are plans ranging from 10-15 dollars (which include very limited and very basic pet accident coverage, but don't include the illness and Vet costs which is the primary thing we WANT them to be covered for!), then there are the plans you actually need, which range from $24+ and skyrocket from there! Your rates are determined by your pets age, any pre-existing conditions (I believe they ask for a screening from the Vet to confirm that your pet doesn't have any known conditions). The rates also depend on how much coverage you want for your pet and how high or how low you want your deductibles to be.

**We're still looking for the perfect fit for our playful pup.  I'd love to hear any recommendations or experiences you'd be willing to share!

Caseco: Designed For (My) Life!

Caseco ~ Designed For (My) Life!

I've been given this wonderful opportunity to review Caseco's Shock Express cell phone case for my iPhone4 and the small but powerful PowerBox universal charger!

If you're an on-the-go person like me, you'll absolutely LOVE the PowerBox universal charger!  2 years ago I attended the @ShesConnected conference, and man-oh-man do I wish I had this handy little life-saver with me!  I, like many of my blogaholic colleagues quickly ran out of juice on our devices with all of the tweeting and note-taking, and many (self included) were seen scrambling through the halls/ and scanning the room for the table closest to an electrical outlet!  I can now rest assured that I won't be that person again!  A few weeks ago most of Southern Ontario was left in the dark due to an Ice Storm that wreaked havoc!  Luckily out where we live the power only went out for a mere 12 minutes!  But my mom and brother weren't so lucky.  I was originally planning on giving my mom one of these for Christmas because her phone loses its charge rather quickly, but before the holidays even showed up she needed it then more than ever.  I had also bought one for myself as my daughter had lost ours at the mall a few weeks prior, but when I heard that my brother's power had also gone out, I gave mine to him.  They were the only lucky ones that opened their presents early!  Thanks to Caseco, I was always in contact with my family over the holidays despite the power being out!
"Caseco PowerBox Universal is a portable backup battery charger that provides you on the go charging option for your smartphone.  It is capable of providing more than 500 charging cycles for your smartphone and is so compact that it can fit easily into your purse or a pocket. It comes with a micro USB charging cable that works with majority of cellphones and tablets in the market.

Features
  • • 2600 mAh Li-ion battery pack capable of giving 500+ charging cycles
  • • Sleek and ergonomic design
  • • Smooth and glossy finish
  • • Micro-USB connectivity
  • • Available in five different colours"

The thing I love most about the case is the way it just comfortably fits in my hands.  The first thing I noticed was how sleek and sexy it made the phone feel in my hand.  I never thought I'd refer to my phone as sexy, but this case just gives it that "feel".  Another great detail is that all the button openings line up perfectly with the iPhone4.  I've owned 2 other cases that were "designed" for the iPhone4, but after putting it on the phone itself, it was clearly noticeable that there was room for improvement.  Now as to the drop test (video below) I can personally say that this thing is built Caseco-Tough!  My little one likes to play Youtube videos from my phone and dance/jump with it on the bed as she sings along!  Let's just say the phone has found the floor on more than one occasion and still not a single sign of damage on either the phone or case!  As their slogan says, their products are designed for life!

"The Shock Express is ergonomically designed with a curved shape that gives it additional grip to avoid slip ups. The side panels are rubber giving it additional shock absorption capabilities. The same rubber layer extends to the inner surface of the case offering exceptional shock absorption.
The hard-shell back panel of the case has a glossy finish and adding to the overall style is the fact that the Shock Express is available in seven of the most enticing shades.

 Features
• Dual injection design that offers two layers of protection.
  • • Hard outer shell to protect the phone from strong impact.
  • • Soft inner shell made out of smooth high-quality rubber to effectively absorb shocks.
  • • Cover for the power as well as volume keys on the smartphone to avoid scratches and wear and tear
  • • Glossy finish of the outer shell makes it look extremely stylish
  • • Available in seven different shades
  • • Sleek and ergonomic design making it slip resistant and easy to fit into your pocket.
  • • Comes with a free screen protector.

Material
 • Soft rubber inner layer

  • • Hard outer shell
  • • Clear screen protector"

Not Scratching the SURFACE (RT)!

Does this face look guilty or what?  LOL
As you may or may not know, last month we purchased a Microsoft Surface RT!  The decision to purchase was made easier by the fact that The Shopping Channel was having a great deal on it (It was the day's Showstopper!).  Essentially what we got was a Microsoft Surface RT 64gb, 2 touch keyboards (which conveniently doubles as screen protector when its on the go), and wireless mouse.  As an added bonus, there was a free shipping code offer and we could make monthly payments with no interest!  We had been debating on whether or not to get a tablet for the family, but after seeing all that the Surface had to offer, we would be silly to ignore this deal!

>> Fast forward to today!  This morning, I woke to find my puppy chewing on the power cord!  Let me tell you, these things aren't cheap, and there isn't an alternative to charging my Surface yet.  Now I find myself running on less that 2% battery and feeling completely helpless.  If anyone knows where I can buy a charger for my RT for anything less than $39.99, please leave a comment, tweet me, or email me :)

Savings???? What's that????

Have you ever tried saving money and failed?  Always feel like you're 2 steps ahead of the game, only to realize you've been playing the wrong game?  As many of you have seen, there is this lovely challenge going around Pintrest and the Twittersphere called the "52 Week Money Challenge".  It's a challenge where every week of the year you put the corresponding amount in dollars into a "Savings Jar".  Ex. Week 1 = Put $1.00 into the Jar, Week 2 = $2.00, and so on until you reach the 52nd week where you will place your final $52.00 into that jar!  The final total at the end of that glorious 52nd week should be a whopping $1,378.00!

I don't know about you, but I'm probably one of the worst people I know when it comes to saving money.  I feel like the more I have, the quicker it slips through my grasp!  Here's a well known fact about me; I love to travel with my family.  Every year we take a trip down south (we love Cancun!), its our way of disconnecting from the world and reconnecting as a family :)  This year will be tough as my partner is very ill and will soon be unable to work.  I've decided to take on this challenge so that, even though it won't be enough to send our family of 3 to Cancun, it'll be enough to treat ourselves to a nice family stay-cation.  So let's see how far I get this year!  Who knows, maybe a money tree will grow in my backyard and I'll be able to take my girls down South after all!

If this proves tough financially, there's also the 365 Day Penny Challenge!  This method will have you seeing a bonus $667.95 on the 365th day of the year!

What do you save up for?
