Happy Mother's May! #FlippForMoms

So Mother's Day has indeed come and gone, or has it? Flipp believes that moms should be celebrated during the entire month of May, and as a way to give back to the moms who give so much of themselves, Flipp is hosting an amazing giveaway on their FB and twitter

They are giving away an amazing $250 SpaFinder gift certificate once a week to one lucky winner (ending on June 3rd). All you have to do is send them a tweet or post on their FB page telling them the best thing you've learned as a mom (or from your mom)! Be sure to use #FlippForMoms in your comment(s)/tweets. Click here for more info and official contest rules.

I've been using the Flipp App since it first came out. If there's one thing that can be said about me it's that I love to save money! I especially love it when some stores actually show my total savings at the end of my receipts (I wish more of them would do this). It makes me feel like I just saved the day!

Every Thursday morning, I get excited when the little Flipp notification comes on telling me that there are new deals to be had! If you haven't heard of it yet, you honestly don't know what your missing (aside from the extra money in the bank). Flipp is this girls best friend! You can browse most of your local retail flyers (not just grocery stores either!), build your shopping list and be off on your way to getting the best deals around! Using the latest addition of their "Coupon Matchups" option, it shows you where you can price match and add the selected coupon(s) to optimize your savings, I easily save $50-70 a week using this method!

In addition to Flipp's awesome contest, I'm thrilled to have partnered up with them to offer one of my readers a chance a $100 SpaFinder gift card. Enter below for your chances to win!

5 Things Your Mom Actually Wants for Mother's Day!

5 things your mom actually wants for Mother's Day (from a mom to her kid(s) in no particular order):

1) Time to herself. (this includes letting her sleep in!)
You don't need to send her to a spa, just let her have a day to herself. Let her do whatever she wants to do, ALONE. And by all means, if she wants to go to a spa (she'll be dropping hints if she does), then get her a gift certificate to a local spa and let her enjoy it.

2) A freshly made bed.
Ah, who doesn't love the smell of clean sheets? And the feel of neatly tucked in taught sheets against your skin. Need I say more?

3) Breakfast in bed.
Actually, make all of the meals that day! There's nothing more satisfying than eating a meal that's been freshly prepared by someone else.

4) Laundry done and put away (same goes for the dishes).
Nothing else needs to be said about this. It's the "not having to do it" that makes it wonderful.

5) Printed photos.
OK, so I know you have a gazillion photos stored on your camera, your phone, you google drive, iCloud (I could keep going!). Take the time to pick out and print special photos from the last year, buy a photo album to place them in or print a photobook and wrap it up. She'll love it!

At the end of the day, showing your mom how much you love her is all she really needs. Flowers and chocolate are nice, but save those goodies to be used randomly throughout the year, she'll appreciate the surprise.

**Feel free to use the above list for ANY special occasion
in which to celebrate that special woman in your life!**

Unless you're a mole man/woman, you already know that Season 2 of Netflix's "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" is out! I can't tell you how much I was looking forward to this season, so the day it was release I started my binge-watching. I finished the whole thing in 2 days and now I'm dying for Season 3!!! Yes, this fabulous Netflix Original has been renewed for yet another season so here's to another year of waiting.

7 Ways to Get Away During Your Staycation! #Giveaway

ProcraStaycate!
Yes, you read that right. We ProcraStaycate. We're ProcraStaycaters!

March break is an awesome time of year at our house because we spend most of our time beforehand planning our daughters birthday party. With all the hustle and bustle of party favours, invitations, and venue bookings, we often find ourselves without a plan for things to do during the actual break! This year, with our dollar being the way it is, we've decided that we're going to have an awesome family Staycation.

Here are 7 ways to get away while on a staycation:

1)   Watch a movie that is set in a tropical location.
2)   Go for a walk in a local conservation area. (We're going to try Geocaching this year!)
3)   Put the internet away for a day. This means no cellphone (except for actual calls!), no emails, no tablets, no video games, and definitely no working from home!
4)   Visit a local museum, science centre, or aquarium.
5)   Read a book. Escape through the magic of words. Let yourself be transported into a new world.
6)   Go fly a kite. Literally get outside and fly a kite, take a walk, go for a bike ride, or kick a ball around.
7)   Get glamourous. Hair and makeup are not just for celebrities anymore. Get your family all dolled-up and become a hometown tourist.

The wonderful folks over at Church & Dwight have got you covered for your March Break. From taking care of your laundry with OxiClean coldwater detergent packs to taking care of those aches and pains after a long day with night-time Rub A5-35. They've got vitamins tailored for men, women, and Lil' Critters too :)

Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow! #NoHairSelfie

Pardon my French, but F*ck Cancer!

I dream of a world where the word "Cancer" is known as a disease of the past. With each day that passes, we are getting closer and closer to making that possible, all thanks to the tireless work being done at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and other brilliant minds around the world.

February 4th is World Cancer Day.
On this day, many around the world will be participating in the #NoHairSelfie movement either virtually (via the #NoHairSelfie app) or by actually shaving their heads to show solidarity with those who are impacted by this horrible disease. This is probably one of the most selfless acts you can do to show support, raise awareness and funds to help find a cure for this disease which has taken so much from us already. Last year alone, over 15 million beautiful souls were diagnosed with cancer around the world. Let's come together and conquer cancer in our lifetime.

Join the conversation and find out what all the BUZZ is about.

When: February 4th

What Time: 7:00pm ET

Prizes: $500 in total prizing

No RSVP is required.

Be sure to follow @thePMCF, @NoHairSelfie
and the #NoHairSelfie hashtag.

Casting a Murderer #MakingAMurderer

It's hard to not get caught up in this documentary after the first episode (of ten).  Imagine finding yourself a victim of the "justice" system, not only once but twice! We start with a young Steven Avery. A son, husband, and father with his whole life ahead of him, who suddenly finds himself a convicted man, sentenced to 32 years in prison for the sexual assault of a prominent young woman. After fighting for nearly 18 years proclaiming his innocence, DNA evidence exonerates him and places the right man behind bars. Fast forward to a little over 2 years of freedom, and shortly before possibly reaching a 36 million dollar payday, he finds himself back behind bars, this time for murder. While watching the series, episode after episode, I was honestly hoping that this would be a fictional story. I watched a man lose his entire life as the world kept on going. His wife had left him, his children grew older and had children of their own, and there was nothing he could do but sit and wait. As I was watching, I felt the most pain for his parents. Fighting to free their son, watching them grow older, and missing out on all the little milestones as the years passed only to find themselves in almost the exact same situation.

I'm not saying they're innocent nor am I saying they're guilty.  I'm simply saying that the justice system has failed them both. They both deserve re-trials, too many questions went unanswered and there was a clear conflict of interest from the beginning of the investigation. The directors, Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos, have done a stellar job in condensing 10+ years into a short 10 episode documentary. While there is plenty of controversy surrounding the series, I recommend you watch it and judge for yourselves. If you've already watched the series, I'd love to hear your thoughts. What did you think?
