One Walk. One Day. All Cancers! #OneWalkShoeSelfie
OneWalk. One Day. All Cancers.
Cancer sucks. I don't know anyone who hasn't been affected directly or indirectly by this disease. Just recently, a dear friend of mine that I met at a conference last year lost her husband to this monster. 4 blogger friends of mine are currently either battling cancer themselves, or are slowing losing their loved ones because of it. It breaks my heart to be hearing this happening on a more frequent basis. Back in 2004, my partners grandfather was diagnosed with prostate cancer. I believe that, because of the treatment and wonderful care he received from the staff at Princess Margaret Hospital, we were able to enjoy an extra 10 years with him. He eventually passed away due to the effects of dementia, but we are forever thankful for the extra time we were given with him.
Everyday, over 500 Canadians will hear the words “I’m sorry, you have cancer” and their families, friends and co-workers will rally together and prepare for the fight of their lives. Cancer is a powerful foe, costing us precious time with those we love, affecting men and women of all ages.
In cancer research, one breakthrough is everyone’s breakthrough. One person’s fight is the battle we all take on.
On September 12th, 2015 warriors will walk 25 kms through the streets of Toronto, united, knowing that together they are changing the future for all those affected by this terrible disease. The Shoppers Drug Mart OneWalk to Conquer Cancer benefiting Princess Margaret Cancer Centre is your opportunity to be part of a game-changing movement to conquer cancer.
